Then there's Rockmolder with its 20% chance, although you only get 3 energy out of that bit. I have to wonder though, if the attribute-specific mods (ala the 20/20 collectors') are superior in effect (obviously they are superior in probablility) to the 10% all mods; and, further, which classification Rockmolder falls into given a difference.

just dont believe it...... i've trapped a great deal of hours the last few months, and i have no reason to believe him.
anyays, i got 2 sets........ a +15 staff (fleshcleaver) and a recharge set (gorrel's cane and the rockmolder)....... i generally use the set for the fast recharge, and when nescesary i switch to the staff to lay down that extra 2 traps. ....... i can lay down a nice ammount of strong traps, and i dont need to equip SQ |

I have tested and retested it solo in lower/midlevel areas. Two rangers with complimentray set ups can do UW alone, 40-44 traps is more than enough, and generally with the right stances you can continue to set traps as the others are going off. You don't even need a battery. But since you are a self battery it works for you, there is no one "perfect" build. I honestly do not like EW, basically because if your expertise is high enough it is actually a detriment. But too many noob players see people that absolutely have to have it, they think it is a must. So they carry it on as they get more "experienced". Basically whatever works, having a couple newer guys who aren't set up "perfectly" isn't going to kill anyone. I have actually seen guys trapping with pets (asI am sure most have) as well as having 12-13 in MARX and only 10-11 in WS. But for the most part if you have 5 man teams the others more thanmake up for it. But when you can have a guy that knows what he is doing and you can partner up it makes the drops a lot better. Just need to have a guildy or a guy on friends list, just gets boring after awhile, like soloing did. |

This post has gotten very off topic...
Shame shame... Anyways, I reasearched, and did some exploring. My warrior/Monk is completely through the game and has done every mission. I did the "Fires in the North" mission just to double check, and still nothing. Captain Arne never offered the quest "Fires in the East", which many sites say he is suposed to. Could someone please update this post with information that actually pertains to the original post? Im not interested in underworld trapping... Jodie |

Could someone please verify and explain to us how this quest is unlocked, if its still possible. A simple "Yes" or "No" dosent work. Im wondering if its only available to monk primaries.
Saying that you did the quest yesterday and got the staff dosent help anyone, for all we know your information isnt credible. Someone please do some research on this (I already have, but cant seem to get the quest), and let us know if its still possible. The quest is listed as being real on many sites and also in the Guild Wars Strategy Guide. Thanks for any helpful information, Jodie |

A possible unlock is Barradin's Advance, also from Captain Arne - done that one? Now I wish I'd been paying closer attention to what I had and hadn't done and in what order when I did this quest last week; all I can suggest, again, is to do as many quests as possible in the area - one of them's got to be the unlock.

I believe that Barradain's Advance and Fires in the East both unlock at the same time; good thought though. Hopefully I'll have some time this weekend to devote to finding the unlock.
And FYI, I personally find the discussion on trapping setups (energy vs. recharge & staff vs. wand+foci) to be perfectly relevant to this thread. After all "godly trapper" is in the subject line right along with "where to get"; so there's no need to try and stiffle the debate...I'm sure if someone discussing the virtures of energy vs. recharge happens to know the quest progression s/he will share. After 4 hours of extensive reasearch I have came to a conclusion:
I have done nearly every quest up to Yak's Bend. I believe the the quest "Fires in the East" has either been removed, or is bugged. The two quests Captain Arne is suposed to offer after "Vanguard Equiptment" Barradin's Advance, and Fires in the East, are never offered to my character. Its possible that these may be class specific quests. I have exhausted my search for an answer to this question, its someone elses turn. Love, Jodie |

I just completed the Fires In The East quest with my N/R. The Staff is still given as a reward. I have not been able to pin down what you need to get the quest as I have always gotten it.
These quest I have left... Barradin's Stand Cities of Ascalon Frontier Gate Fugitives Supplies For Duke Troublesome Artifact I have the Missions Complete The Great Northern Wall Ruins of Surmia Fort Ranik I am at Nolani, but have not done the mission or bonus. Maybe this can narrow it down a bit |

Ok, I have the answer, and it leads me to believe this is a bugged quest.
Started off with a fresh character. 1) Talked to Capt. Ame and accepted "Vanguard Equipment". 2) Finished the above and was given "Barradin's Advance". 3) Finished the above and was given, by gate guard Hollis "Barradin's Stand" & "Supplies for the Duke"; accepted these but did not start on them. Mapped back to Ascalon. 4) Returned to Captain Ame and was given "Fires in the East". I think that perhaps if you complete the quests for Gate Guard Hollis without returning to Captain Ame 1st then you will not be given "Fires in the East". Either that or I've completed it with my other chars, scrapped the reward and then proceeded to completely forget I ever did the quest with those characters; which is entirely possible. |

I have this staff on my latest character.
Was gonna merchant it then I remembered this thread. I'll sell it for cheap if anybody wants it. I won't set a price, so you just offer whatever you want. Heck, I'll just give it to anyone who wants it and contacts me in-game first. IGN Saviour Huh. Note: mine is clean. So its 4+3+3+3. |

I've only just started trapping with my Ranger, but I struck licky with a chest in the Fow and got a gold fire staff with +10 energy, +5 energy and improves skills recharge 9% all with no req (the only req is for the damage and I switch to bow to fight anyway).
